A CHITUNGWIZA man who indecently assaulted his tenant's son until his manhood got swollen was yesterday jailed for an effective one-year jail term. Chenjerai Munyuki (35), a bricklayer from St Mary's, denied the charges when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Toindepi Zhou.
But he was convicted after overwhelming evidence against him. Mr Zhou slapped him with an 18-month prison term, but conditionally set aside six months on condition of good behaviour.
Agreed facts were that on a date unknown to the prosecutor sometime in May this year, Munyuki took advantage of the situation when he indecently assaulted his tenant's six-year-old boy while the father was away at work.
On the second count during the same month, the boy and his father paid Munyuki a visit at his workplace where he was doing brick-moulding. Upon their arrival, Munyuki asked the boy to accompany him to fetch water, leaving the boy's father behind preparing some food.
On their way back, Munyuki indecently assaulted the boy. The boy did not reveal the matter to anyone until his mother took him for a bath and discovered that his organ was swollen.
