There was chaos in Mutoko in the middle of the night when a married man went to a prophet's house where he was assisted by his wife to rape the prophet's wife, the court heard.
The prophet's 18-year-old wife (name withheld), was raped by Tichaona Katsande (35) who was assisted by his wife, Nellia Katsande (29). Reports say the teenage woman was raped while her husband (the prophet) watched miserably.
For the offence, Tichaona and his wife appeared before Mutoko magistrate, Mrs Loice Mukunyadze on 15 July where they were facing rape charges.
Prosecutor Violet Chokuda told the court that sometime last year, Tichaona and his wife Nellia went to the prophet's place of residence and lied to the prophet that they had come for prayers since their baby was coughing excessively.
The court heard that Tichaona was hiding two knives and a metal hammer in his apostolic sect regalia. When the married couple arrived at the prophet's house, they negotiated to gain entrance amid claims that they were feeling too cold and had come to sought prayers for their sick baby.
Prosecutor Chokuda went on to say Tichaona and his wife then changed their issue after they got into the house. Nellia started accusing the prophet of bedding her. She also claimed that the alleged 'sexual encounter' that the prophet had with her had become the talk of the town, and that Tichaona heard the news too.
Having said that, Nelia reportedly told the prophet and his wife that she had come with her husband so they could 'revenge'. The court heard that Tichaona immediately produced the two knives and the metal hammer, supposedly as a proof to show that they meant serious business.
Nellia reportedly instructed the prophet's wife to remove all the clothes and have sex with Tichaona as that would be the 'compensation' for the alleged sex marathon that Nellia had with the prophet. Prosecutor Chokuda said the prophet watched in awe as his wife was being raped. Nellia was reportedly assisting Tichaona so that the prophet's wife would comply with the orders.
When Tichaona felt 'satisfied enough', he then took his wife and went back to their house. The prophet and his wife, who could not stomach what the world would say pertaining to this tragic development, chose to pretend as if nothing had happened. However, the prophet's brother advised the teenage woman to report the matter to police.
Tichaona and his wife were subsequently arrested and magistrate Mukunyadze slapped Tichaona with a 14-year imprisonment stint while Nellia was given a 5-year-jail term.
