Some Zanu-PF killers of Cephas Magura, the MDC Mudzi North Ward 1 chairperson, have mysteriously died while others are living troubled lives as they are being haunted by avenging spirits.
MDC-T mouth piece 'The Real Change Times' crew was in Mudzi district last week where it heard detailed harrowing accounts that have befallen several Zanu-PF supporters who were part of the group involved in the gruesome murder of Magura on 26 May 2012, at Chimukoko Business Centre.
Eric Chatiza, one of the seven Zanu-PF supporters in remand prison in Mutoko for murdering Magura, died on 12 July. Chatiza, a teacher at Chimukoko Primary School in Mudzi died after collapsing in his cell.
During Chatiza's funeral, his uncle, Tangwe Chionerwa who was also implicated in the death of Magura but was not arrested, collapsed and died.
They were both buried the next day.
David Chimukoko, the gang leader of the murderers who is at the Mutoko remand prison is critically ill while his mother-in-law only identified as Uyandipi and was also part of Magura attackers collapsed and died on 18 July at Chirova Village .
The three deaths and the strange things taking place have sent shivers down the masters of violence in Mudzi district, a political hot-bed and Zanu-PF's violence training ground. While in Mudzi, The Real Change Times observed that Loveness Chipuriro, Pedzisai Jumbe, one Better and Gilbert Chionerwa who were also part of the attackers are showing very strange behaviour that border on madness.
The youths are from; Makaha, Chikwizo, Nyamatawa and Goromonzi villages. The Zanu-PF supporters who murdered Magura were sponsored by two Zanu-PF MPs, Newten Kachepa of Mudzi North and Aqualinah Katsande of Mudzi West.
They were bussed to Chimukoko Business Centre from different villages to disrupt an MDC rally that had been sanctioned by the police.
Katsande's son Phillip is in remand prison in Mutoko with five others who include David Chimukoko, a councillor, Gratiano Kazingizi, Perkins Karikoga, Biggie Office and Bob Raphael.
The villagers at Chimukoko ward are also defying a Zanu-PF order forcing them to pay US$5.00 per household for legal assistance of the jailed murderers.
"Kill at your own peril," that is the message to the violent Zanu-PF zealots in Mudzi.
Confirming these reports, Councillor Fungai Mahachi said he had received reports on avenging spirits terrorizing Zanu-PF members who were responsible for Magura's death. "The stories might sound unreal but they are true. I can confirm reports on an avenging spirit that has been haunting those responsible for Magura's death asking them why they killed him," said Councillor Mahachi.
These events in Mudzi district should be a clear statement to those in Zanu-PF who are used to murdering and maiming people that even if the rule of law does not catch up with them, they will face the wrath of the avenging spirits.
A traditionalist who spoke to The Real Change Times said it is possible that if you kill someone, the spirit of that dead person will come back and haunt you. "Most people suffered from being haunted by avenging spirits of the people they had killed. It can only be corrected if the person who committed the crime comes out in the open and confesses to the relatives of the dead person," he said.
He added that it is up to the relatives to have a small ceremony conducted by a spirit medium to pacify the avenging spirit and that the person who committed the crime pays a fine.
Last year, Zanu-PF Midlands provincial chairperson, Jason Machaya was forced to pay 36 herd of cattle and US$15 000 after his son, Farai was convicted of murdering an MDC activist, Moses Chokuda in 2009.
Farai is serving an 18 year jail term at Whawha prison in Gweru.
