A Harare woman was forced to cancel her wedding preparations after she discovered that her husband to-be was married, a court heard.
Jennifer Mhizha had already booked a venue for the wedding that was scheduled for September this year but was forced to abandon the preparations after she discovered that her husband to-be, Warren Chiwawa, was a married man.
After her investigations, Jennifer discovered that her lover was married to another woman who stays in Kadoma. She made the revelations at Harare Civil courts where she was seeking a protection order against her lover, Warren. Jennifer wanted the court to bar him from visiting her workplace and to stop phoning her.
"I want the court to bar him from calling me and visiting my workplace. I just want him to stop calling me because I want to move on with my life. What is saddening is that I discovered that he was married forcing me to abort our wedding preparations. We were supposed to tie the knot in September and I had already booked the venue," she said.
Asked by the presiding magistrate, Mr Milton Serima, on how she came to know about her lover's marriage, Jennifer said Warren's wife heard the wedding rumour and phoned her.
'My parents even went to Kadoma for investigations and discovered that he was really married. Now I don't want him to call or visit my workplace," she said.
However, Warren for unknown reasons, chose not to attend the court session, and magistrate Serima gave a default judgment in Jennifer's favour.
