A MAN was beaten to death in a bar following a row over song choice, Zvishavane police said on Wednesday.

Three men have been arrested and charged with murder after Manford Moyo, 37, died from his injuries during the attack on Monday night.

Police say Moyo and his alleged killers â€" Golden Bako, 23, Amiri Phiri and Elisha Simango â€" were drinking at Maramba Bottle Store when a row erupted over the next track to play.

Phiri had taken his memory card which had music and passed it to the bar lady to select music.

But as she skipped through the tracks, the four patrons could not agree on which song to play.

Midlands police spokesman Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said: "The allegations are that an argument ensued resulting in Bako, Phiri and Simango teaming up to assault Moyo with open hands and booted feet.

"They then dragged him outside the bar and started pelting him with stones. During the course of the fight, Moyo was struck with a stone from behind. He lost consciousness and died moments later."

The three men fled the scene but were later tracked down by homicide detectives.

Assistant Inspector Mahoko added: "The suspects are still in custody and are expected to appear in court soon."
