Four rank marshals based at Rezende Bus Terminus, in Harare, were last week hauled before the Mbare Magistrates' Court after allegedly burning a rival's commuter omnibus following a dispute over how to man the rank.
Darlington Ruzari (27) of house number 40 Mukonde street, Mufakose, Tafadzwa Mazari (30) who resides in New Marimba, Clyde Mutero (29) and Abraham Kwenda (32) appeared before magistrate Reuben Mukawa and pleaded not guilty to charges of malicious damage to property.
They were remanded out of custody to August 9 on a US$150 bail each.
It is the State's case that on July 7 this year the five were involved in a heated argument over control of the rank with one Chiratidzo Zhakata.
It is further alleged that at around 0200hrs, the following day, the quintet teamed up and went to Zhakata's house in New Marimba and allegedly set a commuter omnibus on fire.
Zhakata's mother, Miriam Jakarasi, was woken up by the commotion in the garage and alerted her daughter in-law who identified the alleged culprits.
