Cop (35) 'kills' wife for coming home late, drunk

A Harare police officer was arrested last week on allegations of killing his wife for returning home late drunk.
Aiden Mutambarikani (35) of Amalinda Farm near Lake Chivero has since appeared before Mbare magistrate Mr Reuben Mukavhi charged with murder.
The court heard that on July 24, Mutambarikani arrived home from work, but could not locate his wife, Evelyn Bharura (25). Evelyn, it is alleged, only showed up later drunk.
It is still unclear where she was coming from. Mutambarikani allegedly hit her on the buttocks using a stick as pun­ishment.He allegedly took an iron rod after she snatched the stick. Evelyn sustained serious head injuries, leading to her death later in hospital.
Mutambarikani was arrested last Wednesday after a post-mortem con­firmed she had died due to the injuries. He was remanded in cus­tody to August 23 and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
