The son of retired archbishop Desmond Tutu, Trevor, will know in six weeks whether he is the father of an 11-year-old boy whose mother's name can not be disclosed for security reasons is suing him for maintenance.
The mother of the 11-year-old boy  is suing Tutu, 55, in the Randburg Magistrate's Court.
Mother and son now live in Toronto, Canada.
Results of a paternity test Tutu underwent yesterday are expected in four to six weeks.
The boy was born in October 1999 following a brief relationship between Tutu, now a married father of two, and the woman, who cannot be named to protect the identity of her son.
She claims Tutu moved in with her after he had told her that he was estranged from his wife.
Court documents show that she has been trying to have her application heard since November 2002.
The woman wants Tutu to pay C$759 (about R5544) a month in child support, in accordance with a 2009 ruling by a Canadian court.
The woman has submitted letters, dating back to 2006, that she wrote to Tutu's father asking for his intervention.
His staff replied that he was travelling and would not be able to meet her.
She then wrote to organisations such as the International Tribunal Court, the World Council of Churches and the UN Human Rights Commission, and to the Archbishop of Canterbury, to establish a link with the archbishop.
