The son of Health and Child Welfare minister Henry Madzorera, Tinashe Henry Madzorera (22), has been convicted of culpable homicide after he fatally ran over two children aged seven and 15 years in Borrowdale, Harare, in July 2010.
He will be sentenced on Wednesday.
Harare magistrate Archie Wochiunga dismissed Tinashe's claim that he was travelling at 70km per hour when the accident occurred.
The magistrate threw out further claims by Tinashe that a deflated tyre led to the accident.
Wochiunga said Tinashe's vehicle, a KB250, would have swerved in the direction of the deflated tyre according to the expert's evidence, thereby avoiding the accident.
Tinashe said the vehicle swerved in the opposite direction of the deflated tyre.
His car veered off the road at the intersection of Harare Drive and Alves Road at around 5pm.
Tinashe lost control of the vehicle when a tyre burst resulting in the vehicle hitting the two minors who died on the spot.
It was not clear whether Tinashe was driving his father's official car or a personal vehicle.
