New Chinese envoy meets Mugabe

The new Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Lin Lin, says he will continue to strengthen Zimbabwe-China socio-economic cooperation by establishing joint ventures in infrastructure development.
Mr Lin was speaking soon after presenting his letters of credence to the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe at State House in the capital this Thursday.
The 53-year old is a career diplomat who has been in the service of his country for many years.
Before coming to Zimbabwe he served as a diplomat in Uganda from 1985 to 1989.
He was redeployed to South Africa as counsellor from 1994 to 1998.
Mr Lin became ambassador in 2004 when he was moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he stayed up to 2008.
His current appointment as ambassador to Zimbabwe is his second assignment in that capacity.
Mr Lin replaces Ambassador Xin Xunkang, popularly known among Zimbabweans as 'Chakanaka Chakanaka', who moved to Windhoek, Namibia late last month.
