Man steals cow to pay medical bills

A 32-YEAR-OLD Muzarabani man told Guruve resident magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa that he stole his neighbour's cow in a bid to pay medical bills for his other child with mental illness.
Patnus Kaurimbo of Mukororodzi village, Muzarabani was sentenced to a mandatory stock theft sentence of 9 years.
In his plea of guilty he said he is so poor and could not raise medical bills for his sick child hence he stole the bovine.
The state-led by Carson Kundiona told the court that on September 10 Kaurimbo stole the bovine from grazing lands and went on to slaughter it at Musengezi river.
He threw the carcass into the river.
The complanaint followed footprints which led him to Mhene area, Muzarabani and discovered that the convict was selling the beef, only 2kgs was recovered.
Value of the stolen cow is US$450.
