Impala Car Rental has rubbished reports that they gave false information of the person who hired the vehicle allegedly used in the abduction of Tawanda Muchehiwa in Bulawayo.

The company through its lawyer Mudimu said they handed over the file to the police after they requested for it.

"We handed the file to the police after they asked for it.  We are surprised to see people saying we gave false information. Surprisingly there is no one who did not check the information with the registrar believes they are being victimised by other players in the car hiring business who are just taking advantage of the Tawanda Muchehiwa abduction saga.

The company says they have been cooperating with authorities in making sure that perpetrators are brought to book.

"All we are doing is to cooperate with the authorities and follow all the court procedures because remember this case was also reported in Bulawayo and it is before the courts so we do that," he said.

Turning to the Zimbabwe National Students Union (Zinasu) the company have no problems in engaging them in a professional manner.

"We have no problem having formal engagements because they need to know what happened to one of their colleague. We however cannot help them with what they want if they come to sing at our gate we believe in formal and professional engagements since we are a reputable company," he said.

Mudimu also dismissed allegations that they hired thugs to assault journalists and the Zinasu leader last week.

He said it was unfair to attack Impala as they were just a company doing their business.

"I think it is unfair to attack another Zimbabwean who is doing his business. The good part is the company is doing all it can to assist Muchehiwa to get justice," he said.
