WTO commends RBZ

The World Trade Organisation has commended ongoing efforts by authorities to stabilise the country's currency and economy.

Speaking during an online review of Zimbabwe's trade policies, WTO Trade Policy Review chairman Harald Aspelund noted Zimbabwe's efforts to stabilise its currency adding that the forex regime should not act as a disincentive for investors and exporters.  

He said the stability could contribute to bringing down inflation and to improve the doing business environment.

Several WTO members are said to have called on Zimbabwe to reduce state ownership and to further tackle corruption.
