17,000 motorists arrested

Over 17 000 motorists have been arrested for varying offenses during the lockdown.
According to the police 13 943 motorists were arrested for operating public transport without exemption while 3 859 motorists were also arrested for driving vehicles without number plates.
The police said it is easier for them to track vehicles which are legally registered and licenced in case of accidents and those involved in criminal activities such as robbery and rape.
