Magistrate orders serial armed robber to be mentally examined

A Harare magistrate has ordered one of the serial armed robbers who were terrorising people in and around Harare to undergo a mental examination.
Magistrate Ms Esthere Chivasa postponed the trial of Dreka Felix Katenha (53), Rusty January (18) and Marko Chingoma (29) to August 31.
The trio would remain in custody.
Katenha had on May 29 this year, started acting strangely when they appeared in court. Ms Chivasa instructed that he be examined by at least two medical doctors.
Katenha had fallen into a trance while making strange sounds.
Prosecutor Ms Sarah Bosha alleges that on May 2, the trio sought a lift from Petros Mhlanga saying they were going to the Harare International Airport.
The trio allegedly threatened Mhlanga before robbing him of his Toyota Starlet.
The trio is also facing charges of stealing a BMW from Muchineripi Dendedza, a Honda Fit from Talent Mhondiwa and a Mazda Axella from Tinashe Makiwa.
Katenha is also facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm.
