BREAKING: Judge orders immediate release of Joana Mamombe from Chikurubi prison

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights have secured the release of Harare West MP Joana Mamombe by obtaining a court order issued by Justice Muremba for her immediate release from Chikurubi prison.
In her judgment, Justice Muremba ruled that nothing warranted the placement of Mamombe in custody for the purposes of her mental examination as ordered last month by Harare Magistrate Bianca Makwande.
Justice Muremba said Mamombe could still have been ordered to undergo mental examination at a state institution by state medical practitioners.
The Judge said there was no just cause for placing Hon. Mamombe in custody thereby depriving her of her right to personal liberty which is jealously guarded by the Constitution.
