Corrupt prosecutor granted bail

Guruve district public prosecutor Albert Mazhindu (56) who is facing abuse of office charge after he allegedly took US$100 bribe from a complainant was granted bail by Bindura provincial magistrate Tinashe Ndokera today.
Ndokera granted Mazhindu $1000 bail and is expected back in court on October 30.
The state-led by Clement Kuwanda alleged on October 15 Mazhindu demanded US$100 from the complainant Pauline Bonafacae (30) to release Felix Marungisa, Mackenzie Chikuyo, Devine Chikuyo and Constance Munhuwa who are facing allegations of illegal gold panning and poaching in Mushumbi Pools
Mazhindu allegedly demanded US$100 for the favour and discouraged Bonafacae from engaging the service of a legal counsel Nancy Mabhoyi.
Mabhoyi is reported to have made a tip-off to police details who photocopied, certified and retained the money.
The complainant called Mazhindu and gave him the money under the watchful eye of the police leading to his arrest.
He is being represented by Trust Sengwayo.
