PRIME Minister Morgan Tsvangirai yesterday said it was up to the law enforcement agencies to pursue charges against councillors fired from the party for corrupt activities last week.
The MDC-T leader was responding to questions during his monthly briefing in Harare yesterday. The party dismissed 12 councillors and reprimanded 13 others last week.
The names of the affected councillors were withheld until they had been formally notified.
Sources, however, indicated that the list includes Harare deputy mayor Clr Emmanuel Chiroto, Gweru mayor Tedious Chimombe and councillors Mr Peter Marange and Mr Exevia Vengesayi from Harare.
"We are not the State, we are a political party and the only way we deal with them as a political party is that we expell them. There are a few bad apples that are tarnishing the good work done by others. We are sending a clear message that we have zero tolerance to corruption," he said.
He added: "We do not have any prosecuting power, but I am sure the relevant committees will follow up on this."
