A Harare man brought some goblins to court, which he claimed were used by his daughter-in-law to bewitch and subsequently kill his wife.

Billy Johnson produced the goblins from his jacket pockets and showed them to the court much to the amusement of the gallery. He wanted to convince the court that his daughter-in-law, Precious Sithole, bewitched his son.

Billy's actions prompted the presiding Magistrate, Mr Milton Serima, to ask him how he managed to 'touch the goblins'.

"I sprinkled salt on the goblins and managed to touch them. I have brought them so that you see what she used to bewitch my wife. My wife used to tell me that she would see things in her sleep and that it was our daughter-in-law who was causing it," he said.

Billy brought the goblins at the Harare civil court where he was seeking a protection order against his son Peter. Asked why he arraigned his son to court instead of his daughter-in-law whom he claimed was responsible for his wife's death, Billy remained mum forcing magistrate Milton Serima to ask Precious to respond to the allegations.

Precious denied the allegations saying she had nothing against her mother-in-law.

"I had nothing against my mother-in-law and I never had any idea of bewitching her. I don't use juju myself as he alleged and those things that he had are not mine," she said.

Billy failed to convince the court that the goblins belongs to Precious and that the couple was abusing him. Magistrate Serima dismissed Billy's application saying the court failed to note any violence being perpetrated by the couple.
