POLICE in Marondera have launched a manhunt for Nhamo Katsukunya of Rustenberg Farm, Mashonaland East province, who severely assaulted his 12-year-old son Emmanuel, accusing him of leaving the family garden unattended.

The boy was on October 18 admitted to Marondera Provincial Hospital, where he is being treated for the injuries.

When NewsDay visited the hospital, Emmanuel was wriggling in pain.

According to a police report, on October 15, at around 6pm, Emmanuel left the family garden unattended as he accompanied his friends to gather cattle in the plains.

This allegedly angered his father who then assaulted him with an electric cable and a cane all over the body.

As a result of the whacking, the boy sustained a swollen head, hand and leg injuries.

On October 18, fellow villagers tipped the police after realising that the boy was struggling to walk.
