'MDC was formed to fulfil the unfinished business of the liberation struggle' says Mwonzora

MDC-T spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora is reported to have told The ZimEye last month that his party is preparing to govern the country come next election, also that it is longer a secret that Robert Mugabe and his party are gone.
Mwonzora said "his (Mugabe) machinery is crumbled and we are about to run this country. We were there at the Heroes Acre when we were commemorating Heroes Day because we recognise the ideals of the liberation struggle. By the way MDC was formed to fulfil the unfinished business of the liberation struggle."
Since the formation of the inclusive government three years ago MDC has been attending national events.
Zanu-PF however has been accused of monopolising national events in their historic claim that they are the pioneers of independence.
Reacting to President Robert Mugabe's speech when he said members of the defence forces should support him as the commander-in-chief of the Zimbabwe Defence forces Mwonzora said soldiers should refrain from participating in national politics.
"We are not against the country's defence forces, because they are ours too. What we are opposed to is their interference with politics. Their involvement in fundamental human rights abuses is what we are opposed to. We want them to be professional and vote for any political party of their choice, not siding with any political party," Mwonzora said.
Mugabe last month stated that members of the defence forces should support him in defending the nation before blasting proponents of democracy and globalisation that he said want to plunder national resources.
Mwonzora said it is unfortunate that Zanu-PF is still resisting democracy and globalisation at this time when the whole world is changing.
