A call has been for the rejection of alien values on which there is no global consensus.

The call was made by President Robert Mugabe, at the just-ended 16th Non-Aligned Movement, (NAM) summit in Tehran, Iran.

President Mugabe said there is a tendency by the powerful nations to come up with certain concepts the suit their interests and policies.

The President said: "During the forthcoming 67th Regular Session of the United Nations General Assembly next month, we will be discussing issues pertaining to the rule of law at the national and international levels. For us the issue is crystal clear. The discussion should focus on the non-compliance with and contemptuous disregard of the principles and purposes enshrined in the United Nations Charter and in international law by the powerful members of the Security Council.

"The meeting of the General Assembly on the rule of law must condemn the extra-territorial application of domestic laws. We also must fight all attempts to abuse the General Assembly's high moral standing as an opportunity to prescribe domestic laws on member states. We totally reject the imposition of alien values on which there is no global consensus."

President Mugabe said NAM as a single largest political group in the General Assembly, should play a key role in shaping the framework of global governance for the 21st century.
