A mentally ill Buhera woman, 32, could not endure her fast deteriorating health and decided to set herself ablaze last week.
Lina Vhiriri of Masvingise Village under Chief Nyashanu poured paraffin all over her body before setting herself ablaze.
She died on her way to Matsetsa Clinic after sustaining serious injuries from the burns.
The Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Enock Chishiri, said people should use prescribed medication correctly and live longer since illness was not the end of the world.
He said Vhiriri always complained about her deteriorating health and often hinted that she would one day commit suicide.
"She entered her bedroom leaving her mother and a neighbour relaxed in another room. She lit herself up and came out of the bedroom ablaze and screaming.
"Her mother went outside and sought assistance from neighbours. She was taken to Matsetsa Clinic using an ox-drawn cart, but she died on her way," said Insp Chishiri.
