Mpumelelo Lawrence Ndlovu was at the weekend unanimously elected the MDC Youth Assembly national organising secretary.

The decision was made by the Youth Assembly's National Council which met in Harare on Saturday. The National Council is the highest decision making body in between congresses. Before the elevation, Ndlovu was deputy national organising secretary. He replaces, Simangaliso Chikadaya who died in May after being involved in a car accident in Harare.

Happymore Chidziva comes in as the deputy organising secretary. Mpumelelo Ndlovu was elected as the deputy organising secretary at the Third National Congress held in May last year in Bulawayo.

Before that he was the Matabeleland South Youth Assembly provincial deputy chairperson. His elevation was welcomed by many young people as a strategic move to facilitate the implementation of Chikadaya's vision since the two were working in the same office.

Chidziva was the Youth Assembly national secretary for defence and security.

Accepting the appointments, the two Youth Assembly chief mobilisers said the promotions had come at a very crucial time when the party was preparing for the referendum on the Constitution and the watershed elections, which the MDC and President Tsvangirai would win with a landslide margin.

The MDC Youth Assembly deputy chairperson Costa Machingauta said the Assembly will remain committed to the struggle for real change and a new Zimbabwe guided by the heroic spirits of Chikadaya, Learnmore Jongwe , Better Chokururama and Tonderai Ndira among others.
