A 29 year old man committed suicide on Monday after gulping a poisonous pesticide following a heated altercation with his grandmother who accused him of heavy drinking.
Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Clemeve Mabgweazara confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Simbarashe Manda of Chitetete village, Nyaminyami Chief Musampakaruma in Hurungwe.
Police said the deceased had an altercation with his grandmother over his excessive drinking habits and late home coming and he decided to take his own life.
"The deceased went into his bedroom where he drank the poisonous substance. He then came out and told his auntie Alice Dzemwa that he had taken a pesticide.
"He was rushed to Kanyathi Clinic where he was confirmed dead on arrival," Mabgweazara said.
The matter was reported at ZRP Magunje and no foul play is suspected.
