MDC-99 president Job Sikhala's rural homestead was raided on Monday night, and his cousin Charles viciously assaulted, The Daily news reported.
Sikhala told the Daily News that "Zanu-PF thugs" descended on his rural homestead and pulled out his cousin from the house and assaulted him.
The former student activist said the thugs left Charles for dead.
He was ferried by neighbours in a scotchcart to Silveira Mission Hospital in Bikita where he is recuperating.
The fiery politician said Charles had been put in charge of the rural homestead following the death of his mother last year.
Sikhala vowed to revenge the attack if the "thugs" are not brought to book. He said he had lodged a police report.
"I as the aggrieved vow that revenge is imminent if the police do not take action swiftly and effectively," Sikhala warned.
"I am different from the rest. I do not give you another cheek if you attack the other.
"My philosophy is answer fire with fire."
