A Harare woman has been jailed an effective 12 months for brutally whipping her six -year-old son with an electric iron cable, as punishment for soiling his pants.
Melisa Nengomasha (25) locked up the boy in a room for hours as she went to drink beer at a nightclub.
On her return, she discovered that the boy had soiled his pants and floor and beat him with an electric iron cable.
Nengomasha's son is now in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare after it was proven she was an irresponsible parent.
The boy, who did not have access to the toilet, relieved himself inside the locked room. When the mother returned, she got so angry and whipped the boy all over using an electric iron cable. The boy sustained serious injuries and neighbours made a police report leading to the woman's arrest.
