Farmers' organisations have expressed concerns over the incessant rains that have pounded the country for the past few days as they have potential to ruin crops.

Most parts of Mashonaland Central - Mt Darwin and Bindura, Mashonaland West and Midlands have been receiving large amounts of rainfall.

Zimbabwe Commercial Farmers Union president Shadreck Makombe said crops like beans, sugar and soya need moderate rainfall but the incessant rains have now raised fears of damaged crops.

Zimbabwe Women Farmers Association president Dephinah Nkomo said the rains had negatively affected plant growth. She said places like Chegutu had received at least 75mm of rainfall which had affected plants as the red soil in that area tends to be sticky when it receives too much water.
