Jailed Robert Martin Gumbura suffered his first New Year setback after the High Court struck his bail appeal off the roll on a technicality.
Gumbura was sentenced to 40 years imprisonment in 2017 but his term was halved last year after he noted an appeal against sentence and conviction.
He went on to file an application seeking condonation after he delayed in taking further steps to appeal to the Supreme Court.
In the latest application for bail pending an appeal, the High Court struck of the application and directed that the application maybe directed to the Supreme Court for determination.
