BINDURA based bar manager who was selling beer through the window during Covid-19 lockdown was slapped with $20 000 fine yesterday by Bindura magistrate Ethel Chichera.

Denford Kurima (50) pleaded guilty to the charge and was ordered to pay half of the amount, failure to pay the fine will earn him 3 months in jail.

The court heard that on  Tuesday the police pounced on a local bar in Chiwaridzo, Bindura and saw them selling beer through the window.

The police forced entry into the bar and whilst inside one of the patrons bought two quarts of castle beer using a US$20 note serial number  EB78278356  which the police took together with empty bottles as an exhibit.

The police arrested Kurima who had authorised the illegal selling of beer after it was banned during the country's covid-19 induced lockdown.
