Telone Mashonaland East and Central Regional Manager Kanganwai Sande is being accused of being unfair to his subordinates as he is reportedly refusing to give them off days, as a way of reducing the risk of workers contracting the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

Employees who spoke to Bulawayo24.com based on anonymity, for fear of victimisation said they are working in subjugation but fearing for their lives as they come to work non-stop when they should actually get off days. The sources also said that the manager is disregarding a company directive which states that critical staff should work for two weeks on rotation as a way of decongesting the work premises.

"We are supposed to be split into teams which work for two weeks and get two weeks off so that we are safe from COVID-19, but we are being treated unfairly," the worker purpoted. One of the workers said they are always anxious on why the manager is going against the management directive and at the same time being inhuman.

"We don't even have a testing machine for COVID-19 but we have been coming to work since last year and before this lockdown started," another worker heeded.

Contacted for comment, Sande said,"I have no comment."

Most companies in the country have made ways of decongesting the workplaces as a way of curbing the lethal pandemic.
