Lockdown or no town?

Since the outbreak of corona, many countries embarked on strict lockdowns as a way of flattening the curve.
Back home, the national lockdown has been extended by a further two weeks to curb the coronavirus but public adherence to the same cause has been worrisome.
A survey carried out by this journalist indicated that life is normal in the townships.
Thus it can be concluded that the law enforcement agents are only worried about people getting into town than people staying indoors.
It can also be argued that government at this point is only protecting the buildings and not the people for the virus is not only in the cities but were people live.
While efforts have been made to make the city inaccessible, a lot still needs to be done to encourage people to be indoors.
Recently, police in Bulawayo arrested a couple of people in Phumula who were partying and defying the lockdown rules.
Many people in the locations are not even masking up, they move around their neighbourhoods without masks and no one will do them anything as police officers will be busy with people who will be going to town only.
With this in mind, government is therefore encouraged that enforcement of lockdown measures should not only be concentrated in towns but also the townships.
Awareness campaigns should be done in those areas and where possible patrols by the security agents should be conducted to force adherence.
Instead of protecting building against the virus, efforts should be upped to protect people against the virus.
