Reversing car kills 1-year-old baby

In a bizarre incident an 1year old Mount Darwin minor died after a parked Isuzu pick up reversed and run her over recently.


The vehicle is owned by  her father who had parked parked it the previous day and it reversed the next day while the now deceased Lea kajokoto was playing with her sister at the back of the car.

Acting Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison Dhliwayo confirmed the case.

"I can confirm a fatal accident in Mount Darwin where a 1 year old died after she was run over by an Isuzu registration number APR 8266 owned by Amon Kajokoto father to the deceased," Dhliwayo said.

According to police Kajokoto parked his vehicle the previous day and his children started playing on the car the next day and reversed before running over Lia.

They rushed her to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police warned motorist to avoid dangerous parking and  to ensure that their hand breaks are in good working condition.

"We are urging motorists to avoid dangerous parking and to ensure that their hand breaks are in good working order."
