A Madziwa farmer was killed by lightning on Monday after she had sought shelter in a tobacco barn
Moreblessing Kaminga (23) was fatally struck by a bolt of lighting while in the golden leaf barn.
Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the case.
"I can confirm a sudden death case in Madziwa where a female adult was fatally struck by a bolt of lightning while seeking shelter during rains in a tobacco barn," Mundembe said.
Allegations are that the now deceased Kaminga was coming from the fields with her husband Staginet Nyamusara (30) when it started raining.
The couple sought shelter in a tobacco barn which was subsequently struck by lightning killing Kaminga on the spot.
Police warned people to avoid going to the fields during rains and avoid seeking shelter in unorthodox places including tobacco barns.
