A bolt of lightning struck and killed Maxison Nyandoro from Mushumbi who was seated under a tree during the rains last week.
Acting Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Naison Dhliwayo confirmed the case.
Allegations are that a bolt of lightning struck at Kadowaira village, Mushumbi and killed Nyandoro .
A kitchen hut also caught fire and the deceased's mother Kapewa Pedzisai was fortunate to escape unhurt.
She later advised neighbours who managed to pick the body of Nyandoro and sent it to the hospital.
Police warned people to desist from sitting under tall objects and avoid using electrical objects during rains.
"We are appealing to members of the public to avoid sitting on tall objects and use of electrical objects is not advisable," Dhliwayo said.
"People should also remove metal objects like neckless or belts to avoid being struck by lightning."
