Fresh charges for Marova, Chimbiri

MDC ALLIANCe activists Netsai Marova and Cecilia Chimbiri have been summoned to court to answer fresh charges of inciting public violence after they allegedly called for President emmerson Mnangagwa's resignation during a protest last year.
According to the summons dated June 18, 2021, the duo is set to appear at the Harare Magistrates Court on July 13 this year.
It is alleged that on the February 19, 2020 at Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House, Marova, Chimbiri and several other MDC activists unlawfully demonstrated while waving placards.
The cards were written "ED enda", "ED must go".
They are also accused of singing derogatory songs.
Marova and Chimbiri have several cases that are pending at the courts and have been incarcerated at Chikurubi Maximum Female Prison in pre-trial detention on several occasions.
Jailed activist Makomborero Haruziviishe, and students activists Alan Moyo, Denford Ngadziore, who also have other pending matters of inciting public violence at the courts, are alleged to have been with the duo on the day the offence was committed.
