Traditional leaders and chiefs in Midlands province thronged the Ziscosteel plant in Redcliff as they performed rituals over the weekend as they look forward to it's reopening.
Ziscosteel Public Relations Manager Patricia Muzenda said, "We have been engaging all our stakeholders as we look forward to reopening the company. In that vein, the chiefs being stakeholders requested that they want to perform traditional rituals at the plant".
Traditional opaque beer and drum beating as well as dancing was practiced as traditional leaders performed their rites and dedicated the plant to their ancestors.
Chief Weight Gwesela said the event was a plea to ancestors to watch over the operations at the company.
"We have different beliefs according to countries and in Zimbabwe, we believe in dedicating everything we do to our ancestors. Remember this company deals with minerals and our ancestors watch over the minerals", he said.
