As the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme gathers momentum, government has taken over the repair of urban infrastructure such as roads, street and traffic lights.
Tickerhead: Infrastructure repairs on course
This Wednesday saw the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Mutsvangwa presenting an update on interventions taken by government in the ongoing road rehabilitation programme.
"Government noted that the failure by local authorities to repair both traffic and street lights was compromising this safety," she said.
Mass public transport is also being improved with the Minister giving examples of some of major government rehabilitation projects.
"Some of the interventions by government include solar installation of Mbudzi tower, synchronisation of nine traffic lights along Samora Machel, reviving old bus routes among others."
Minister Mutsvangwa also reiterated government's commitment to improving livelihoods and quality of life for the citizenry.
