Serious crimes on the increase in Zimbabwe

ZRP Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri has expressed concern over the increase in crimes of concern this year as compared to last year.

Crimes that include murder, rape and robbery are reported to have increased by 7%.

Commissioner General Chihuri said between January and June this year, there were 102 754 cases of crimes of concern compared to 95 992 recorded during the same period last year.

He said the developments call for increased police visibility and enhanced partnership between police and the public in the fight against crime.
