No money for civil servants salary increments: Biti
17 Mar 2011 at 05:50hrs | Views
Finance minister Tendai Biti on Wednesday dismissed claims he had received money for civil servants' salary increments and accused Zanu PF officials of issuing sensational and untrue statements to gain political mileage.
Biti's remarks come in the wake of claims by Mines and Mining Development minister Obert Mpofu on Tuesday that Treasury had received $167 million from diamond sales to cover civil servants' salary increments.
Biti, who is also MDC-T secretary-general, challenged his Zanu PF counterparts to come out clean on diamond proceeds and stop politicking over sensitive issues like civil servants' salaries for political expediency.
