The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) says the new electoral law which stipulates that Presidential results should be announced within a period of five days is subject to review as the electoral body has the right to extend the period in the event of anomalies.
ZEC and representatives of political parties to the GPA held a consultative workshop in Harare to deliberate on the amended Electoral Act.
ZEC Acting Chairperson, Mrs Joyce Kazembe told ZBC News that the commission discussed a number of provisions to enable all political parties to familiarise with the new electoral law ahead of elections.
Mrs Kazembe said ZEC advised political parties that there is room to extend the announcement of Presidential results which is supposed to be done in five days.
She said ZEC will not entertain any form interference from any quarters during elections.
The workshop also discussed the delimitation prior to proclamation, postal voting, policing at polling stations, powers of the electoral court, role of observers and provision of the new voters roll among other electoral reforms in the Electoral Amendment Act 2012.
