Expect referendum in the next 3 months, says Mwonzora

Douglas Mwonzora, the Copac chairperson told hundreds of Masvingo residents to expect the referendum on the new draft Constitution in the next three months.
He was addressing a public lecture on the draft Constitution at Civic City Hall in the town. Mwonzora said the issue of homosexuality which was being raised by some misguided Zanu-PF politicians who are against the drafting of a new Constitution had been clarified as the issue of allowing homosexuality was not included in the draft.
He said the Bill of Rights would incorporate the rights of all citizens.
Mwonzora expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the draft Constitution. The meeting was attended by Okay Machisa who was representing the civic society. Machisa said the civic society was satisfied with was included in the draft Constitution.
Also present was Takavafira Zhou who was representing the civil servants. Zhou said in the new Constitution, civil servants should be allowed to openly participate in politics.
Still in Masvingo province, the MDC provincial leadership led by the chairperson, Wilstaf Sitemere will hold a 13th anniversary celebration rally at Zvavahera Business Centre in Gutu North.
