Deportations of Zimbabweans from Botswana through the Plumtree Border Post have declined by 28% in the first 9 months of this year compared with last year.
Figures from the department of immigration indicate that between January and September 2011 18 387 people were deported from Botswana as compared with 13 199 this year.
Meanwhile, the International Organisation for Migration says the government is not doing enough to fight human trafficking in the country.
Tapfumaneyi Kusemwa, the IOM counter trafficking officer said lack of legislation fighting human trafficking was fuelling this practice adding that the country will remain as a source, transit and destination for human traffickers.
