Man fist fight 3 cops, set vicious dogs on them to evade arrest

Police from Chivi had a torrid time trying to arrest a suspected cattle rustler when the later set his vicious dogs on the officers resulting in serious injuries to one of them.

For a long time, Police had Pedzisayi Konjiwa (52) on their wanted list and decided to surprise him at his homestead in Tadzoka Village under Chief Madyangove. They almost managed to arrest him when they entered into the homestead without being noticed and went for their target.

A fist-fight ensued however, between the three officers and Konjiwa and when Konjiwa realized that the Police were about to get the better of him, he coded his two vicious dogs which according to a State case responded swiftly and effectively, thereby taking the three officers to the ground.

Egnasio Mafoko representing the State said Constable Alexander Chinyowa, one of the arresting officers was seriously injured by the dogs and was taken to hospital.

Magistrate Frances Mapfumo sentenced Konjiwa to three months imprisonment of which one month was suspended for five years on condition of good behavior. The sentence was for trying to defeat the course of justice.
