Energy Minister Elton Mangoma has been arrested on new corruption charges.
Mangoma was first arrested on March 10 and charged with corruption over a US$5 million fuel supply tender he awarded to a South African company not approved by the State Procurement Board.
He was out on bail before his latest arrest – believed to be over the awarding of a tender for the supply of prepaid electricity meters to a company he once worked for.
Nelson Chamisa, a spokesman for Mangoma's MDC party, said the minister was detained as he left home for work. Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai threatened to pull out of the coalition government following Mangoma's first arrest.
