Movement for Democratic Change leader, Morgan Tsvangirai today held a field day at his Buhera rural home in Humanikwa Village where he showed people how best to utilise rural soils through drip irrigation for agricultural purposes.

Tsvangira said he decided to use the method after realising that the agricultural land in Buhera had been overused and would no longer be possible to grow crops relying on normal rainfall.

The project is running all year round and it has since cascaded to other villagers in the area.

Tsvangirai said the concept is not about food security alone but about improving the living standards of the rural villagers. The event was attended by people from all walks of life including chiefs, headmen, government ministers, diplomats, senior party and government officials and local villagers.

Tomorrow, Tsvangirai will be at Murambinda growth point in the same district where he is expected to address thousands of party supporters at a memorial rally.

The rally is in commemoration of over 500 MDC-T members who were allegedly killed in 2008 by Zanu-PF and State security agents in the run up to the June 27, 2008 sham presidential elections.

Tsvangirai will be accompanied by the MDC-T national and provincial leadership.

Meanwhile, the MDC-T Vice President, Thokozani Khupe will on Sunday address another MDC-T rally in Nyanga North at Nyamasara Seconday in Chapatarongo Village.
