Man (24) gets two years for bedding juvenile (15)

A 24-year-old man has been jailed for two years for bedding a 15-year-old girl. The man admitted to being intimate with a minor when he appeared in court. Beitbridge resident magistrate Miss Gloria

Takundwa ordered the man to serve two years after she conditionally suspended the other two.
In passing sentence, Miss Takundwa noted that cases of sexual abuse were prevalent in the border town.

She said a custodial sentence would be deterrent enough to would-be offenders.
The man had in mitigation implored the court to be lenient with him claiming that the juvenile had lied to him about her age.

He said he had a sexual relationship with the girl after she eloped to him.
Charges are that sometime in September this year, the man proposed love to the girl, a form three student, and she agreed.
