Zimbabwe police officers return from UN mission

The Zimbabwe Republic Police Deputy Commissioner General Godwin Matanga has reiterated the need to shun political violence ahead of the anticipated referendum and general elections.
He was addressing officers who have returned from a peace keeping mission in East Timor and South Sudan.
Deputy Commissioner General Matanga says the organisation will not tolerate any form of political violence.
He said the force will not hesitate to deal with all perpetrators of political violence despite their political affiliation.
He urged police officers to remain dedicated to duty in their quest to assist troubled nations.
He said the organisation will continue to render assistance in line with the United Nations charter of which the ZRP is a signatory.
A total of 1 100 police officers have participated in the United Nations peace keeping operations and the organisation has contributed 43% women to the United Nations.
The ZRP was first invited to participate in peace keeping missions in 1995 in Angola and so far it has taken part in similar missions in various countries such as Sudan, Kosovo and Liberia.
