The Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) says it is on high alert and has enough fuel stocks to rescue communities in low lying areas, which are likely to be affected by floods next year.
The Metrological Services Department predicted that the rainfall season is going to be characterised by normal to above normal rains which translates that the second phase of the season might be characterised by floods.
AFZ however says it is on high alert in case floods occur in the low lying areas.
Air Vice Marshall Shebba Shumbayaonda said AFZ already has enough stocks of fuel in the low lying areas and in the event of floods people will be rescued on time.
"Our aircrafts are ready and we are on high alert, we have been rescuing marooned people and if anything happens next year we will be there to assist," said Shumbayaonda.
For years, AFZ has been working together with the Civil Protection Unit to assist communities that will be affected by floods.
Muzarabani, Lupane and Chiredzi are among the low lying areas which are normally affected by floods.
