Chitungwiza residents living in fear of typhoid, cholera outbreaks

Residents of Zengeza 1 in Chitungwiza are living in fear of typhoid and cholera outbreaks as the town council has failed to attend to burst sewer pipes and raw sewage is flowing freely on the streets.
Children play close to the contaminated water oblivious of the looming disease outbreak.
Residents can no-longer use their household ablution facilities as the sewage is flowing backwards.
Those who spoke to the state media said they were concerned that there might be an outbreak of water-borne diseases such as cholera and typhoid if the situation persists adding that they have alerted council authorities but with no results.
Although the Chitungwiza Town Council contracted a company to replace some of the burst sewer pipes, the company has alerted residents that it is shutting down for Christmas and will only resume the pipe replacement programme next year
